Dan Speight Elected to Georgia Bankers Association (GBA) Board of Directors

The Georgia Bankers Association (GBA) recently announced the appointment of five new board members and among those elected was Dan Speight, CEO, Planters First Bancorp. Dan will begin his two-year term with the GBA on July 1, 2020.

Other elected board members include:

  • Hoke Reeves, president and CEO, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Sylvania
  • Brad Serff, president and CEO, Providence Bank, a Division of Heritage Southeast Bank
  • David Caswell, president, Century Bank of Georgia, Cartersville
  • Tim Perry, president and CEO, The Citizens Bank of Georgia, Cumming.

The Georgia Bankers Association is the trade and professional organization representing the interests of banks and thrift institutions in the state of Georgia. Virtually every institution is a member of the GBA and policy is set by a Board of Directors which is elected among the membership.

Dan joined Planters First Bancorp in August 2019. Prior to joining Planters First Bancorp, Dan was a founding shareholder, officer, and director of State Bank and Trust and State Bank Financial Corporation. Dan has also served in various leadership roles with James Bates Brannan & Groover, Flag Bank, Flag Financial Corporation, and Citizens Bank. Dan is also currently a board member of Beach Community Bank headquartered in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Dan has been active in various community organizations and well as state-wide banking organizations. Dan received his BBA from Georgia Southern College and his JD from Mercer University. Dan and his wife, Robby, live in Pinehurst, Georgia
