Planters First Bank is proud to announce the 2022-2023 September School Administration Spotlight for Pulaski County Schools. This spotlight program is held in conjunction with the Pulaski County School System through their nomination and directional process on choosing the educator for the monthly spotlight that will run from September through April of each school year.
Congratulations, Sonya Ryan, for being selected as this month’s spotlight!
Sonya Ryan is the newly appointed Pre-K director at Little Children Growing for Pulaski County Schools. Sonya is a 1985 graduate of Hawkinsville High School and is currently in her 19th year of serving Pulaski County students. Prior to teaching Hawkinsville, she received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Christopher Newport University in Virginia and had teaching positions in New Jersey and Tennessee. In 2004, She began her career in Hawkinsville as a lead teacher at Pre-K, and eventually served as the Preschool Special Needs teacher. She then moved to Pulaski County Middle School as a Special Education teacher and 8th grade Math and Social Studies educator. After obtaining her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University, Sonya assumed the role of Assistant Principal at PCMS where she served for 3 years.
Sonya has 4 children, Wesley, Melissa, Dylan, and Jack, and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family and practicing yoga with her daughter.
