Planters First Bank is proud to announce the December Teacher Spotlight for Pulaski County Schools. This spotlight is a new program that Planters First Bank has initiated and held in conjunction with the Pulaski County School System through their nomination and directional process on choosing the educator for the monthly spotlight that will run from October through April of each school year.
Rebecca Wilson is an eighth-grade physical science and reading teacher at Pulaski County Middle School. She has taught at PCMS for the last 11 years and has 14 total years of teaching experience. Rebecca holds a Specialist in Middle Grades Education degree from Georgia Southwestern University. Mrs. Wilson is a mentor teacher and member of the school's Leadership Team, where she graciously shares her ideas and talents with her co-workers. Currently, she is the sponsor for the PCMS Art Club and has assisted several students in entering submissions into area competitions. Her passion for science drives her students to excel in Science Fair competitions.
According to Mrs. Wilson, when people hear that she teaches middle school, they often respond, "Bless you!" She just smiles and replies, "I love it!" According to her, "Middle school is generally considered the most difficult age to teach, but I feel as though I am right where God wants me to be. I can't imagine a day without their honesty, quirkiness, and humor. I love their emotionally charged energy. It is so rewarding to watch the transformation as they figure out who they are. They keep me inspired and striving to be the best teacher I can be."
Rebecca Wilson is married to Allan Wilson. They have twin daughters, Ella and Elise, who attend the 5th grade at Pulaski County Elementary School. Rebecca enjoys crafts, sewing, and photography in her spare time; and loves spending time together with her family showing and riding their horses on the weekends.
