Planters First Bank will be closed on June 20, 2022, in observance of Juneteenth.
June 19 became an official federal holiday in 2021 when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act. Juneteenth is the ‘longest-running African American holiday’, and it recognizes June 19, 1865, as the date that news of slavery’s end reached slaves in Texas and other states in the southwest. This holiday celebrates the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States.
