According to the IRS, the next batch of checks and debit cards are being mailed the week of March 22nd. Please continue to use the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website to track you stimulus payment.

EIP Checks/Cards. Be on the lookout for paper checks that may be presented from the next Economic Impact Payments (EIP) round. IRS announced yesterday the next batch of checks and debit cards are being mailed this week with a March 24 payment date. If you're getting questions from customers who were expecting but have not received their EIP by direct deposit, IRS encourages you to pass along a link to the Get My Payment tool on their website.

We are expecting an extremely high call volume. It may take longer than normal to connect with the Solution Center.

Due to the stimulus payments, we expect higher than normal call volume. Based on this information, we recommend using Online Banking or Telephone Banking to see if your payment has been posted. Register for online banking here or call (833) 732-8351 and choose option 1 to set up Telephone Banking. You are always welcome to call and check your account, and we are always happy to serve you.

Try our newest chat feature, Conversations! Here you can ask a Solution Center Representative about any transactions you might see in your accounts or the status of your stimulus deposit. Once a conversation has begun, customers will be notified of an approximate response time and will receive another notification when the Solution Center Representative has sent a response. It's safe, it's secure, and you chat with a real person. Best of all, Conversations is already built into your account. You can access it on your phone, tablet, or computer.

According to the Federal Reserve, US Treasury, and IRS, the third round of economic impact payments to more than 100 million eligible Americans is expected the week of March 15th. Additionally, more than 140 million Americans will be paid during the next three weeks.

The banking industry is working closely with the Treasury Department to help eligible Americans receive those payments quickly, securely, and safely during this challenging time.

Here are ways you can get more information on your Economic Impact Payment and the resources available to you:

  • According to the IRS the scheduled payments will begin on March 17th. Please note that paper checks and pre-paid debit cards will be issued later in the month.
  • The best way to see how and when your payment will be delivered is to check the IRS Website.
  • Our Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and Telephone Banking are all quick and easy ways to check for incoming deposits on your account balance.
  • Beware of scams- The IRS will not call, email, or text you for personal or bank account information. We urge you to be on the lookout for these fraudsters. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Solution Center at 833-732-8351.

Avoiding Cyber Threats and Scams:

Government Assistance and Resources:

Always beware of scams using fear/intimidation, trickery, urgency, or disinformation related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) to attempt to steal your sensitive, personal, or account information. Watch out for strange calls, emails, texts or websites that look like they are coming from legitimate businesses or government agencies asking for information like SSN, usernames/passwords (login info), account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, PINs, etc. Planters First Bank will never request such information through email/text/outbound calls. Always check your account statements for official websites and customer service numbers and call those numbers directly rather than giving out information over the phone/email/text.

Please be reassured that Planters First Bank is taking the necessary steps to avoid potential disruptions of service to our customers. Planters First Bank continues to monitor the situation using information from trusted sources, including the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organizations (WHO), banking agencies/regulators, and state/local health agencies. Dan Speight

Planters First Bancorp CEO, Dan Speight, featured on a recent interview with PYMNTS.com. In their latest discussion with Karen Webster, Ingo Money CEO Drew Edwards and Planters First Bancorp CEO Dan Speight said that in Georgia, where both make their homes, consumers are rediscovering an appetite for dining out again.

"… restaurants are beginning to open, people are going about their business" and dining out again, Speight said.

Edwards, who is based in Atlanta, said restaurants there are reopening with masked wait staff and a lot of customer preference for outdoor dining. And he said that further south, "my wife just came back from the beach in Florida, and she said everything is packed. Nobody in the restaurants have masks on — none of the waiters have masks on. There is just a rash of irrational exuberance down there."

But that's not happening nationwide, according to Brian Hassan, co-founder and co-CEO of Kickfin, which works with restaurants on payment solutions, and Stephen DeSousa, CEO at Broadway Hospitality Group, which represents 14 Massachusetts and Rhode Island eateries. They joined the discussion and said that restaurant reopenings in the pandemic-hit Northeast and West Coast are progressing more slowly.

Important Notice about the Paycheck Protection Program

As you are likely aware, the guidance that governs Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans continues to evolve. We are working to stay informed of current PPP guidance from the SBA and U.S. Treasury Department and it is important that you do the same. We are sending this communication to you because we'd like to share some important information. You will recall that your PPP loan application required a good faith certification that "the uncertainty of current economic conditions makes this loan request necessary to support the ongoing operations of the applicant." The SBA has established a short period of time (i.e., a "safe harbor") for PPP applicants and borrowers to repay their PPP loan in full without being subject to liability regarding this good faith certification. The deadline to repay the funds is on or before May 14, 2020. The reason this "no questions asked" period is being offered is to provide relief for applicants who applied for or received a PPP loan based on a misunderstanding or misapplication of the standards regarding this certification.

Based on information from the SBA, it is our understanding that the SBA intends to provide additional guidance on how it will review this certification prior to May 14, 2020. Although we are hopeful additional guidance will be issued soon, it has not been provided to date. We recommend that you be on the lookout for this additional guidance to help ensure that your PPP loan is in compliance with all applicable laws, guidance and standards. If you'd like to learn more about the guidance related to the safe harbor with respect to the necessity certification please visit the SBA Website or click here.

As your bank we felt it was important to share this deadline with you. However, it is your obligation to make a decision with regard to your need for a PPP loan. If you should have any questions with regard to your PPP loan and your eligibility for the same, we encourage you to speak with your legal counsel. Thank you for banking with Planters Bank.

We are honored to serve our small businesses in Middle Georgia, especially during these challenging times. At times like this, going the extra mile is so important to ensuring our community stands strong. Because you put your faith in us, we were able to help 278 Middle Georgia businesses through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Below you'll find a full recap of our PPP statistics. Planters First Bank remains committed to our customers, and we're here to help if the coronavirus has had a major impact on your business. We will continue to work with you based on your unique situation and encourage you to contact your local banker to discuss your options.

PPP Program

Thank you for entrusting Planters First Bank with your Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan. We're thankful for your relationship, and we want to be your primary financial institution. If you have relationships with other financial institutions, please consider Planters First Bank. We have excellent bankers and exceptional products that are ready to meet your needs. Additionally, we pride ourselves on referrals. Many of our new customers are referrals, and we ask that you consider sharing your positive experience with others who may be looking for a better way to bank.

Now that you've been approved, you're probably thinking about the forgiveness component of your PPP loan. I'm happy to say, that makes two of us. We've been closely monitoring the SBA and US Department of Treasury to determine the appropriate next steps in the forgiveness process. At this point, we've created the following Q&A based on information that we've pulled from multiple credible sources. Although final guidance has not been issued by the SBA and US Department of Treasury, this will provide a basic understanding of the forgiveness process.

Important Notice about the Paycheck Protection Program

On April 16, 2020, the SBA announced on its website that it is unable to accept new applications for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) because the funding had been allocated.

Planters First Bank remains committed to our customers and we're here to help if the coronavirus has had a major impact on your business. We will continue to work with you based on your unique situation and encourage you to contact your local banker to discuss your options.

If you had a PPP loan application pending with us, we will be sending you an email as soon as possible if we were unable to process and submit your loan application to the SBA before PPP was suspended. If your application was submitted to the SBA prior to the suspension of PPP but is returned by the SBA for any reason we will also communicate this with you.

To assist existing applicants, we will continue to work on PPP applications that have already been received so that they can be prepared to be processed, to the extent possible, should additional funds be allocated to PPP and the SBA resume accepting applications.

In order to focus our resources on these existing applications, Planters First Bank is currently not accepting new PPP applications. However, we cannot guarantee that these existing applications will be accepted. Please remember, applications to participate in PPP are subject to confirmation and review of payroll and financial information as well as SBA approval. Should Congress authorize additional funding and reinstate the PPP we will consider accepting new applications.

Please know that we are your hometown bankers and we're here to help.
